A Street Fighter Filled 4th of July Weekend
What an interesting, fun-filled 4th of July weekend. The weekend included two nights of playing Street Fighter 4 till the sun started to rise and going to sleep with the sun up. AJ Papa, a video-journalist working at Get Your Tournament with me, and I met up at Arcade Infinity on Friday night. He was wondering where all the top Southern California Street Fighter players were that night, as he wanted to get some practice in before EVO but all he saw were just random gamers at AI. I mentioned to him that this weekend was Alex Valle’s Rush That Shit Down event, sort of like a Street Fighter bootcamp. After hearing that, we decided to go to PC Arena Lan Center to check out the action.
It turned out to the best decision of the night, a number of top players were at hand for RTSD including Alex Valle, Gootecks, Kai, and Megaman just to name a few. Street Fighter 4 action was intense and it was the first time I had to test out how my El Fuerte would play against other people. Which went something along the lines of, Gadouken, Super taunt, cancel into Ultra. Shglbmx kept landing that same combo with Dan to finish the rounds against me, I did take a rare set from him but I was eating that same combo with uncanny consistency. I probably should not be to concerned as I have less than a week’s worth of playtime with El Fuerte and still need to get the basics down first. The second day was much the same, though I did manage to get some Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix gaming into the mix as well.
All in all, one of more entertaining 4th of July holiday weekend for me. Unfortunately I was too busy playing games and forgot to take pictures, next time I won’t forget to take some times and snap some shots of the fun.
PC Arena Lan Center is located 104 N. Raymond Ave. Fullerton, CA 92831.
Welcome
Well, I dusted up the old website a bit and finally uploaded part of my portfolio onto the website. I’ll be expanding my current portfolio soon and I’m hoping that eSports will become a prominent section of it. Talking about eSports photography, I have decided to move my eSports photography to my SmugMug account and use flickr for more casual photos. I’m looking forward to using this blog not only to promote my own photography but to detail my activities as an eSports photographer and its ups and downs.
That being said, yesterday’s Ladies of Street Fighter tournament was really fun to photograph. Everyone had fun at the event and stayed to watch the matches from beginning to end. Additionally, I conducted a photo shoot with some of the participants of the tournament before it started. Not all of the ladies wanted to have their pictures taken, but those who did braved the sweltering heat of the day to pose and have some fun in front of the camera.
The next big event that is coming up on the schedule is EVO 2009 held in Las Vegas from July 19-21. EVO is most likely the biggest fighting game tournament in all of North America, so there will definitely be lots of photos from the 3-day event. Until then, I’m going to be taking pictures whenever I can to make sure I’m at the top of my game when I arrive at Vegas.

Hey, welcome to the new Karaface.com. I decided that having just a single page with links to Flash galleries was just too simple, so I decided to spruce things up. I’m still in the process of updating my site, but in the mean time check out my flickr gallery and Twitter feed.
